‘Game of Thrones’ Mayhem and Other Top Comments

Sunday’s shocking “Red Wedding” on Game of Thrones left fans with so many emotions they had nowhere else to properly express them but on the Internet.

The web was abuzz with fanatic GOT chatter, from funny and angry fan reactions, to Thronesactress Maisie Williams’ “best” reaction via Vine, and NFL’s Aaron Rodgers receiving hate-tweets for tweeting spoilers.

Readers mostly scoffed at those who hadn’t read the books and boasted being the biggest GOT nerds. One even feigned (we hope) severe emotional distress over Sunday’s massacre of an episode. And you don’t have to watch the show to enjoy some overly invested fans’ dramatic reactions.

Also provoking strong reactions this week was Yahoo’s “modern” search engine redesign. Yahoo’s search spruce-up comes after makeovers to its homepage and iPhone, mail and weather map, with a Flickr revamp to come. Many commenters noticed the new Yahoo’s likeness to competitor and search king Google.

In lighter drone news, Domino’s successfully delivered a pizza by flying drone dubbed “DomiCopter” in the UK. Some commenters expressed fear or pondered the possibility of people hacking into DomiCopter, but a few managed to take an optimistic spin on the flying-pizza news, comparing the effects of a small delivery drone vs. a delivery car.

Facebook launched a currently invite-only file transfer app called Pipe, which has a capacity to share 1 GB files — standard email attachment limits are set at 100 MB. Bypassing discussion about Pipe’s potential usefulness, readers went straight to cracking jokes about the Super Mario Brothers look.
